The monarch of the fictional nation Latveria, Doctor Doom has been portrayed as both a supervillain and antihero, and is usually depicted as both the archenemy and ally of the Fantastic Four, though he has come into conflict with other superheroes as well, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Daredevil, the X-Men, and the Avengers.

Doctor Doom was ranked by Wizard on its list of the 101 Greatest Villains of All Time and on IGN's list of the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time.

In a later article, IGN would declare Doom as Marvel's greatest villain.
